Like many, many people, I love The Wire. I was a late-comer to the party–I started watching the show in its third season and caught seasons 1 and 2 on DVD. For me, the bad guys and the Baltimore citizens were always the most interesting characters. Out of these, one of the best was Snoop, a character whose menacing nature was palpable. Even though I understood maybe one-half of what Snoop said, I always knew she meant business. The actress playing Snoop, Felicia Pearson, has a pretty remarkable background and its easy to see why she is so convincing: she’s lived the role. Even though Snoop was a thoroughly bad person (was her question,”how does my hair look” the first lines she ever had that weren’t business related?), I’m going to miss Snoop.
